If your organization has been struggling to get the results you want from your eSourcing program, it might be time to consider a different approach.

For years, technology decisions were made primarily on feature/function comparisons and input from the I/T department. Not enough attention was paid to whether the system would actually get used on a daily basis.

Too many eSourcing systems are focused less on getting results and more on cumbersome technology and features that never get used. This happens because some of the bigger providers are intent on getting customers to install the largest, most complicated full-suite system possible to drive their own revenue from network integrations, upgrades and other things that don’t correlate to your results and needs.

What you need is an eSourcing platform that your people like and will actually use.

Today, the industry is coming around to something Scanmarket has known all along: Simple is better. Even the analyst community is starting to come on-board as evidenced by this recent article in Spend Matters US. In it, they discuss the importance of user experience, high customer satisfaction, out-of-the-box integration, and a host of other things that Scanmarket has been doing since Day One. We’re glad the industry is finally coming around to our way of thinking.

If you are dealing with a legacy eSourcing system that might be holding you back from reaching your goals, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do your people recoil from using the system rather than embracing it as a way to make their jobs easier?
  2. Do team members need repeated training and refreshers each time they use the system?
  3. Do you have trouble meeting both your eSourcing activity and savings goals?
  4. Is your eSourcing system part of a broader I/T procurement implementation where it’s obvious that eSourcing was not the focus but instead perhaps a last-minute add-on?
  5. Do you need to access scarce I/T resources to perform tasks like data migration and integration?
  6. Are you within 12 months of the end of your current eSourcing subscription?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, it’s time to reevaluate your eSourcing platform and think about moving to one that will provide you with real results.

Simple = Usage = Results = Savings
